If you have working stuff that you want to get rid of try sticking it on ebay cheap. I just bought a big sony tv (68cm) with stand for my kids to play their wii on - it was only $20 (and they threw in a DVD player - LOL). It will get a few more years use now before being scrapped.
Its a little bit of a hassle settgin up the sale on ebay I must say though.
