Glass recycling - Analogue TV sets

Why is glass recycling limited to just bottles and jars. As an engineer I find it deplorable that the analogue TV industry is being progressively shut down and the majority of Cathode ray tube (CRT) type television sets will end up in Land Fill. Each CRT has from 4 to 20 kgs of glass and between 1 to 4 kgs of metal depending on display size. Currently some councils charge a fee to put them into Land Fill
